Cochem boat trip prices

A boat trip in Cochem is cheap by German sightseeing standards. Here is what each trip costs at the kiosk and online, what children and dogs pay, and when booking ahead is worth the extra.

Two companies sell boat trips from the Cochem riverfront, and their fares are close. A one-hour loop past the Reichsburg costs about €14 for an adult at the pier, the lock cruise to Beilstein €20, and the long day trips upriver somewhere around €30 to €40. Online, the same trips start at $16 and $28.

We took the euro fares from the operators' own pages and their ticket partner, and the dollar prices from the online listings, all checked in October 2026. Kolb, the bigger operator, publishes no general fare list, so some of its prices only show up at the kiosk or in the booking form.

The quick answer

The one-hour loop costs €14 at the KD kiosk and about the same with Kolb; online it starts at $16. The 2.5-hour lock cruise to Beilstein is €20 at the pier (children 4 to 14 pay €10) or from $28 online. Day trips to Traben-Trarbach run roughly €30 one way. Kiosk tickets are usually cheaper; online tickets buy a fixed date and, on most listings, free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

The pier fare and the online fare buy the same seat. The difference is flexibility.

How much is a boat trip in Cochem in 2026?

From €14 for the one-hour loop to about €40 for a long return day trip. Online prices start at $16 for an hour and $28 for the Beilstein lock cruise.

Every regular trip from the Cochem riverfront, shortest first. Kiosk fares are adult prices for 2026 where the operator or its ticket partner publishes them.

The long-trip figures come from a 2026 overview of Moselle day cruises, not from Kolb, so treat them as a ballpark. The one-hour fares at KD and Kolb sit within a euro or two of each other.

Two and a half hours, the Fankel lock and Beilstein for the price of two short loops.

Is it cheaper to buy Cochem boat tickets at the kiosk or online?

At the kiosk, by a few euros. The Beilstein lock cruise is €20 at the pier and from $28 online; the one-hour loops are €14 against $16.

The gap is small on the hour-long loop and bigger on the lock cruise. What the online price buys:

  • A fixed date. Useful on a summer Saturday, when the afternoon boats fill up with day visitors from the river-cruise ships.
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before on the KD cruises and the Beilstein lock cruise. Read the cancellation line on any other listing before paying; not every one has it.
  • Paying in your own currency, which matters if your card charges a foreign-transaction fee.

Our take: in May, June or after mid-September on a weekday, walk up to the kiosk. On a July or August weekend, or if you only have one afternoon in Cochem, book the slot.

Kolb sells at its kiosks, at the landing stages and on board.

What do children, seniors and families pay?

On Kolb boats children aged 4 to 14 pay half and under-4s ride free. KD charges €12 for children and students, €11.20 for seniors and €41 for a family of four.

A family of four on the KD hour pays €41 at the pier. The same family on the Beilstein lock cruise with two children aged 4 to 14 pays €60.

Do dogs and bikes cost extra on Cochem boats?

Dogs ride free on Kolb boats, on a lead. Bikes cost €2 to €4 on Kolb, space permitting. The KD listing charges €3.90 per dog.

Kolb's own Q&A is clear on both: dogs welcome on a lead (muzzle if they bite), bicycles €2 to €4 depending on the route and only while there is room. On a sunny weekend that room runs out on the popular Beilstein boats, so cyclists should ride one way and sail the other early in the day.

The KD panoramic cruise listing adds €3.90 per dog and says outside food and drink are not allowed. Every Kolb boat has a galley with hot and cold drinks, and most sell snacks.

Drinks are sold on board. A coffee and a glass of wine add a few euros to the fare.

Which Cochem boat trip is the best value?

The lock cruise to Beilstein. At €20 for 2.5 hours it costs about €8 an hour on the water, against €14 for the one-hour loops.

Price per hour isn't everything, but it shows where the one-hour loop is weak. You pay €14 to see the castle and the riverfront from below and to turn round before the scenery gets going. The Beilstein boat goes upriver into the bends of the Moselkrampen, through the Fankel lock, and lets you off in a village with no road traffic to speak of.

The Traben-Trarbach day is cheapest per hour but asks for a whole day. For most visitors the Beilstein boat is the sweet spot. More in the Cochem to Beilstein guide.

Where do you buy boat tickets in Cochem?

At the Kolb kiosk on the Moselpromenade, the UNDINE agency below the old Moselle bridge, the KD ticket office on the promenade, on board, or online.

  • Kolb: its own agency on the Moselpromenade, the separate "Rundfahrten UNDINE" agency below the old Moselle bridge, the landing stages and the boats (moselrundfahrten.de). Online sales go through Ticket Regional.
  • KD: the KD ticket office on the Moselpromenade, with the boat boarding in front of it, or KD's web shop.

The piers sit a few hundred metres apart. Check which company your ticket is for before you queue: a KD ticket won't get you onto a Kolb boat, and the reverse is true too. KD or Kolb covers the differences.

Do Cochem boat prices change by season?

Fares stay put through the season; the timetable is what changes. KD sails 27 March to 17 October 2027, Kolb's loop runs daily from late April to 31 October.

KD's 2027 panoramic season runs Tuesday to Sunday with up to six departures. Kolb's one-hour loop sails daily from 27 April to 31 October 2026, then on November weekends and a handful of December dates. Off-season, prices hold but choice shrinks: in November there is one company and four boats a day.

Visiting this winter? What still sails in November and December has the dates.

From November only Kolb sails, and only at weekends.
