Which Moselle wine festivals near Cochem can you reach by boat?

Cochem's three festivals, Ernst's and, on Kolb's Beilstein route, Bruttig's and Fankel's. Zell and Eller are easier by train.

Kolb's boats upriver to Beilstein stop at Ernst, Bruttig and the Fankel lock, and European Traveler notes it is the one routing on this stretch where you can break a cruise and catch a later boat. That makes four villages and the town itself festival-by-boat material. Dates below come from the tourist board and event listings; 2027 dates are shown only where published.

When is the Cochem wine week (Mosel-Wein-Woche) in 2027?

Not announced yet. It runs in early June on Endertplatz; the 2026 edition was 3 to 7 June.

The Mosel-Wein-Woche is the wine cooperatives' week: Rieslings from the Cochem area, a small sparkling wine village, free bands, and fireworks on the Friday at 22:30. An event listing gives Wednesday 3 to Sunday 7 June for 2026, and nothing for 2027 yet.

Early June suits a boat day. Every Kolb route runs daily, KD sails Tuesday to Sunday, and you can do the lock cruise to Beilstein in the morning and be back on Endertplatz for the first glass.

When is Cochem's wine festival with fireworks?

The Heimat- und Weinfest takes the last weekend of August every year, with a Sunday parade at 14:00 and fireworks at 22:00.

The Ferienland Cochem page describes wine stands on the Moselle promenade and the Marktplatz, two stages, the big parade through the old town on Sunday afternoon and fireworks at 22:00. In 2026 it ran from Thursday 27 to Monday 31 August, according to an event listing. Last weekend of August 2027 is the 28th and 29th, but wait for the official dates.

The best seat for the fireworks is on the water. For 2026, KD sold a fireworks cruise on MS Moselprinz on the Sunday, boarding 19:30 and back around 22:30. No 2027 date yet. If KD repeats it, it will sell out; book the day it appears. On festival weekends we would also book the daytime KD cruise ahead, since the town fills up.

Can you take the boat to the Ernst, Bruttig or Fankel wine festivals?

Yes. Ernst is on Kolb's one-hour loop and the Beilstein route; Bruttig and the Fankel lock are stops on the way to Beilstein.

The Ernst Weinfestival ran from 21 to 23 August 2026 on the riverbank at Moselstrasse, with bands, a jazz brunch, a Riesling regatta and a procession of Bacchus and the wine queens. It sits a short ride upriver. Kolb's one-hour round trip lets you step off in Ernst and take a later boat back, which is the whole trick.

Further up, Bruttig's Winzerfest takes the second weekend of August (7 to 10 August in 2026, per this listing) and Fankel's the second weekend of July (10 to 13 July in 2026). Both are on the boat line to Beilstein. Check the last boat back to Cochem before your second glass; a festival evening runs longer than the timetable.

What is the Federweisser festival in Cochem?

A wine party in a marquee on Endertplatz on the first two weekends of November, built around Federweisser, the cloudy, half-fermented new wine.

The Federweissenfest closes the year's festivals with dance and party bands, pop to Schlager. An event listing puts 2026 at 30 October to 1 November and 6 to 8 November, and KD times its Cologne hotel-ship weekend for 6 to 8 November.

By then the boats are on the winter timetable: Kolb's one-hour loop on Saturdays and Sundays only. Our winter boats post has the times. Expect the November 2027 dates to follow the same first-two-weekends rule.

Which festivals are better reached by train than by boat?

Zell's Schwarze Katz festival and Eller's Wein und Mehr. Beilstein has no wine festival date we could find, so go for its cellars instead.

The Weinfest der Zeller Schwarzen Katz is the one nearby festival with 2027 dates already out: Friday 25 to Monday 28 June 2027. Zell traditionally opens the round of big Moselle wine festivals. By boat it is about three hours each way from Cochem, so take the train to Bullay, the station for Zell, and keep the boat for another day.

Eller's street wine festival, Wein und Mehr, runs on the long weekend around German Unity Day (2 to 4 October in 2026). Ediger-Eller has a station on the Koblenz to Trier line. Beilstein's own site lists no wine festival, but it is the best wine stop on the river any day from May: see our wine cruise guide.
